Another way you can experience this wild world is by 4 wheel drive jeep. By jeep or elephant back, you can go deep into the heart of the park, viewing some of the rare species of flora and fauna. You can also go on foot in to the park escorted by our well-trained naturalist who will interpret to you the concealed secrets of the jungle. You will have a great opportunity to see many species of birds including water fowl, Brahminy ducks, pintails, bar-headed geese, cormorants, woodpeckers, hornbills, peacocks, peahens, floricans, red-headed trogons and many others.

Another activity in the park is the boat/canoe trip down the Rapti and the Narayani Rivers. This is one of the more serene ways to explore the area as float downstream with the river’s flow. On the out skirts of Chitwan you can the Tharu community, and see their artistically decorated thatched huts, their typical dance and how they manage life next to the national park. A Chitwan jungle safari is certainly an adventure that the whole family can enjoy.

What to bring

  • Neutral colored clothing is recommended.
  • Light clothing is needed for daytime with a sweater and warm jacket for the evenings from November to March.
  • Pants / Trousers are recommended for elephant safari.
  • Comfortable walking shoes, sun hat, sunglasses etc. are essential.
  • Binoculars add greatly to your enjoyment for bird and wildlife viewing.
  • Terai jungle are infested with leaches during monsoon hence one should carry insect repellent to keep them away.
  • It is advised to bring the necessary medical items such as mosquito repellent, anti-direahea tablets and anti-histamines

When to visit:
Chitwan National park is one of the most visited National Park for exciting wildlife activities. The best time to visit the National park is from October through March, with an average temperature of 22 degree Celsius. The months of March to June temperatures can reach 42 degree Celsius. Generally, the hot temperatures last from June until September. The month of June to September is the monsoon season. Rivers becomes flooded sometimes during the season. Sometimes during May to August the park can be closed due to monsoon.

How to reach Chitwan National Park:
Chitwan National Park is well connected by national high way as well as has daily airlines services from October through May to Meghauli airstrip just outside the Park boundary. Alternatively, Rafting on Trishuli River is another exciting way to get to the Park. The bus leaves to Chitwan national park regularly from Kantipath, near by Thamel as well as central bus station often called new Bus Park. A bus or private car to Chitwan takes about 5 hours.

Activities in the park:

Elephant Ride
Elephant safari is one of the best ways to explore the Chitwan National park. The tour enables you to enter into the dense forest and tall grassland to view animals species and birds. Here, you will have great opportunity to photograph the animals from close range

Jungle drive
A Jeep safari through the jungle provides more game spotting opportunities than might be expected otherwise because it goes deeper into the jungle, usually beyond the beaten track. A thrilling tour in a four-wheel drive into the heart of the park will enable you to view some of the rarest species of animals, birds etc. You can also visit the observation Tower for viewing the enchant movements of the animals in the wilderness. The jeep can be diverted to visit the crocodile-breeding farm as well.

Jungle walk
Jungle walk is another way of experience the wilderness. Our trained naturalist will take you across the flowing water of the Rapti River and the prime areas of the park to view nature’s gifts like wild species of animal and birds blended with the surrounding flora and fauna. Early morning and late afternoon walk is the best to avoid midday heat.

Bird watching:
The parks are well known as a paradise for the birds. Some 450 species of resident and migratory birds have been recorded so far. You may encounter many of them, while making this tour. Other species like the Giant Hornbill, Lesser Frolic and the paradise Flycatcher will also attract your attention when your are traveling along the banks of the Rapti River.

Village tour:
Village tours allow visitors to experience a stay in a typical Nepali village. This gives visitors an opportunity to observe the rich Nepalese cultural tradition from the closer quarter and intermingle with locals.

Tharu culture programmed:
The cultural program is another way to enjoy and make meaningful contrast of visit. The drumbeat and the agile breathtaking stick dance performed by the Tharus people. Their rhythmic movements and the exciting drumbeat may urge you to join them in their performances

Canoe Trip:
A typical hand made Canoe will take you along the famous Rapti River where you will encounter the Harmless Gharial and the mud-drenched crocodile, basking in the sun at the Riverbanks. Moreover, many aquatic birds can be seen on the way.

Elephant Breeding Center:
We will take you to the first Elephant Breeding center in Asia , which is only two kilometers away from our resort. You can see baby elephant socializing with their parents and other babies. The center belongs to the Nepalese Government and its objective is facilitating the breeding of young elephants, and to train them to convey tourist around the region.
